DIGIS3 coordinator participates in the Foundation’s VI Young Researcher Awards

Juan Manuel Corchado, coordinator of DIGIS3 and president of the AIR Institute, participated this week in the VI Young Researchers Awards 2022, organised by the AstraZeneca Foundation in collaboration with the Carlos III Health Institute. Under the slogan "Connections that save lives," awards were presented with the aim of promoting the development and consolidation of young scientific talent in Spain.

In this edition, one million euros have been awarded to four research projects to promote young scientific talent in Spain. The selected projects are related to Oncology; Precision Medicine and Immuno-Oncology; Respiratory Medicine and Immunology; Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism Medicine; and Vaccines and Immunotherapies. During the gala, Mariano Barbacid's career in biochemistry was also recognised.

In addition, another of the novelties was the promotion of research between groups from different autonomous communities, structured in a network research project, which facilitates the achievement of results and generates greater scientific knowledge by promoting synergies between the different research groups.

Juan Manuel Corchado, President of the AIR Institute, attended the awards ceremony along with other members of the Board of Trustees of the AstraZeneca Foundation, the Minister of Science and Innovation, Diana Morant, and other personalities from the health and pharmaceutical sectors to recognise the work of the award-winning researchers.
