The European Commission has opened the call DIGITAL-2026-SKILLS-10-DIGITAL-HEALTH-STEP, under the Digital Europe Programme, to fund projects that expand the training offer in Artificial Intelligence applied to the healthcare sector, helping health organisations and their staff to be ready to adopt AI solutions.

What does it involve?

It funds projects that jointly design and deliver AI training programmes for the health sector, bringing together higher education and training institutions, research organisations and industry. Selected projects will be required to:

  • Collaborate with the European network of advanced AI-based screening centres.
  • Make training material available in English and other relevant EU languages.
  • Develop a dynamic training catalogue and a dedicated page on the Digital Skills and Jobs Platform.
  • Seek synergies with existing infrastructures such as HealthData@EU and Cancer Image Europe.

Who can apply?

Legal entities (public or private) established in EU Member States or in countries associated with the Digital Europe Programme. Consortia combining universities/training centres, research organisations and companies from the sector are expected to be formed.

How much funding is available?

Total budget of €7.8 million, allocated across an indicative number of 2 projects, with a funding rate of 50% and a duration of up to 48 months.
