EdTech Accelerator: €2.7 million to support European educational technology startups
The European Commission has launched the DIGITAL-2026-SKILLS-10-EDTECH call under the Digital Europe Programme, funding a single project to establish a specialised EdTech accelerator. The programme will help European startups and SMEs turn innovative educational concepts into mature, market-ready products aligned with European values of ethics, inclusion and pedagogical integrity, including the responsible use of generative AI and extended reality in learning.
Important — who is this call specifically aimed at?
The €2.7 million funding, provided as a single grant, will be awarded to a consortium responsible for managing the accelerator programme, rather than directly to individual startups at this stage.
The selected consortium will subsequently launch open calls to select at least three cohorts of EdTech startups, providing them with funding, incubation and opportunities to pilot their solutions in real-world environments. At least 60% of the total budget allocated to the programme must be reserved for direct financial support to the selected startups.
What does this mean for companies and organisations in Castilla y León?
- If you have the capacity to coordinate or participate in a consortium managing this type of accelerator — for example, as a university, technology centre, accelerator or innovation agency — this represents a significant funding opportunity.
- If you are an EdTech startup or SME, you cannot apply directly to this call at this stage. Instead, you should monitor the future open calls launched by the selected accelerator consortium, which will provide the actual route to funding and acceleration for your project.
Can we help you assess your role in this call?
At DIGIS3, we support organisations in Castilla y León in assessing whether they have the profile to coordinate or participate in a consortium of this kind, while helping EdTech startups position themselves ahead of the future calls that will be launched by the accelerator.
