Why is Europe committed to digitisation?

Digitalisation is not a fad: it is a key lever for competitiveness, sustainability and innovation. Programmes such as Digital Europe, NextGenerationEU or Horizon Europe aim to prepare companies for today's challenges, in order to face the future.

Funds you should know about... and take advantage of

Here is a list of the most relevant European funds and aid programmes for digitisation:

  • Digital Europe Programme (DEP): funds advanced digital solutions in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, advanced computing, etc.
  • Horizon Europe: funds R&D projects in digital transformation, especially with international collaboration.
  • Interreg Europe: funding instrument created under the framework of the European Cohesion Policy, with the aim of strengthening cooperation between Europe's regions through the funding of cross-border and interregional projects, including rural digitalisation.
  • POCTEP: operational programme for cross-border cooperation between Portuguese and Spanish entities
  • Erasmus+ for SMEs: yes, you can also go digital by learning: Erasmus+ includes funds for digital training of staff.
  • European Innovation Council:
  1. EIC Accelerator: ideal for technology startups with disruptive solutions in the digital field.
  2. EIC Pathfinder: research and innovation grants to take cutting-edge research from lab to prototype.
  3. EIC Transition: market entry readiness grants
  4. STEP Scale Up: large investments to help companies become global leaders
  • InvestEU: combined funding for digitisation, sustainability and innovation.
  • European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD): includes lines for digitisation of the agri-food sector and rural areas.

How to access these grants?

In DIGIS3 we have a specialised service for advice and development of European proposals in order to obtain funding and access to international consortiums. This service is available to companies in the region free of charge and includes aspects such as:

  • specialised advice on funding:
    • review of national and European calls for proposals,
    • selection of calls for proposals,
    • identification of funding possibilities,
    • analysis of risks and opportunities
  • preparation of funding proposals for innovation projects.
  • advice on the drafting of results-oriented proposals aimed at competitive sectors in regional and national frameworks.
