Innovation in the primary sector: Drones take centre stage at ADRISS and DIGIS3 event

On Thursday 27 June, we held a conference on the application of drones in the primary sector in Villanueva del Conde (Salamanca).

The DIGIS3 consortium, through its associated entity, the Association for the Integral Rural Development of the Salamanca Mountain Regions (ADRISS) -which is part of DIH-LEAF-, in collaboration with the City Council of Villanueva del Conde, the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at USAL and the Junta of Castilla y León, organised a conference aimed mainly at the olive grove, vineyard, fruit and forestry sectors, which has been a great success.

The event's programme of activities included presentations on drone applications in the rural environment, technical inspections and crop control, data collection of forest mass and detection of hot spots for fire prevention. In addition, attendees were able to watch, in situ, practical demonstrations with flights over plots of interest, multispectral mapping, infrared sensors and LiDAR technology.

The event was attended by crop and livestock farmers, foresters, engineering companies, members of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences of the University of Salamanca, and the Junta de Castilla y León.

DIGIS3 would like to thank ADRISS, DIH-LEAF, the City Council of Villanueva del Conde, the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences of USAL and the Junta de Castilla y León for their interest and collaboration, and AEROBUR, the company that made this event possible.
