Looking back at 2024: a year of significant growth for DIGIS3

2024 has been an outstanding year for the European Digital Innovation Hub DIGIS3. Alongside its members (AIR InstituteSCAYLEUniversity of LeónICECYLDIHBU and DIH-LEAF) and with the support of affiliated entities and associated partners, DIGIS3 has expanded through meetings, training sessions, and conferences that have captured the interest of various organisations and institutions on both national and international levels. All of this has been achieved with the aim of facilitating the digitalisation of public entities and SMEs in Castilla y León.

January

The year began with the National Meeting of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs), an annual event held to coordinate efforts within the European network under the support of the PADIH programme. Members of DIGIS3 travelled to Vizcaya to participate. Additionally, DIGIS3 organised various training activities in January, including the free course “Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and training on agricultural digitalisation in collaboration with Comercial Agrícola Castellana.

February

The year began with the National Meeting of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs), an annual event held to coordinate efforts within the European network under the support of the PADIH programme. Additionally, DIGIS3 organised various training activities in January, including the free course “Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence and training on agricultural digitalisation in collaboration with Comercial Agrícola Castellana.

March

March was a month of recognition and collaboration. DIGIS3 became the only Spanish EDIH to achieve three significant badges from the European Network of Digital Innovation Hubs. Achievements like these paved the way for agreements with other entities, such as a partnership with InnDIH, the Valencian Community EDIH, to jointly deliver digitalisation services.

April

In April, DIGIS3 participated in the eighth edition of Advanced Factories, Southern Europe’s leading industrial automation and robotics event, held in Barcelona. Additionally, the Castilla y León EDIH launched various free courses on AI, IoT, and comprehensive ecosystem digitalisation. DIGIS3 also attended the Lerma Fair to promote digitalisation support services for farmers and SMEs in the agricultural sector.

May

Continuing its collaborative efforts, DIGIS3 established a strategic alliance with EDIH Madrid Region in May to accelerate the digital transformation of companies and SMEs. Remaining committed to innovation and digitalisation in rural areas, DIGIS3 conducted a workshop on school radio and digital technologies at the CRA of Riaza (Segovia), aimed at training teachers.

June, July, and August

During the summer months, DIGIS3 participated with its own stands at major events such as Salamanca Tech Summit, ASTICNET24, and the 5th National Iberian Pig Forum. Training activities included the third edition of the Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence course and a free session on the application of drones in the primary sector.

September

The prominent Burgos Technological Meeting on Industry 4.0 2024 hosted DIGIS3, providing a platform to share its project and network with companies and experts.

October

In October, DIGIS3 delivered a digital transformation workshop for SMEs during the grand Startup Olé event. It also participated in the third National Meeting of EDIHs, held in Gijón.

November

November saw DIGIS3’s notable presence at the second edition of the EDIH Network Summit, held in Brussels, an event that brought together key stakeholders of the European Digital Innovation Hub Network. Additionally, DIGIS3 hosted a free workshop “Explainable AI for Businesses: What AI Can Do for Your Company” at the University of Salamanca Science Park.

December

The year concluded with the organisation of the Horizonte Rural 5.0 Congress, a resounding success in terms of institutional and business participation. It provided an excellent opportunity to connect with experts and professionals in innovation, rural cohesion, and disruptive technologies.
